How to Spot a Fake Luxury Watch

Even a $50 fake and a $500 super-rep look identical in a photo. In the hand, three things separate them.

1. Cyclops magnification A genuine Sub magnifies the date 2.5×. Cheap fakes magnify 1.5× — the number looks small.

2. Bezel action 120 audible clicks. If it feels gritty or spins backwards, it's not a top-tier build.

3. Movement finish Geneva stripes on the rotor should be even. On flat lighting, you should see rainbow. Cheap movements look grey.

Where reps are today Super-rep builds now use 904L steel, sapphire, ceramic bezels and Swiss-look automatic movements. Most non-collectors can't tell in hand.
